Spider-Man: Brand New Day has soared to one of the most impressive opening weekends in cinematic history, raking in an estimated $927 million globally within just four days of release. This latest Marvel installment, starring Tom Holland, now holds the record for the second-largest global opening ever, following only Avengers: Endgame, which premiered with a staggering $1.2 billion in 2019.
Domestically, Spider-Man: Brand New Day amassed $355 million over its opening weekend in North America, closely approaching the domestic record of $357.1 million set by Avengers: Endgame. Internationally, the film garnered $572 million across 66 different markets. Leading the overseas box office was China, which contributed $121 million, followed by the United Kingdom with $49 million, Mexico with $38.3 million, and South Korea pulling in $25 million.
The blockbuster also set new opening weekend records in several countries, marking India’s biggest Hollywood opening ever with $31.8 million. France added $26.6 million to the film’s earnings, while Brazil brought in $23.8 million, and Spain contributed $15.6 million to the success.
Compared to previous Marvel hits, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has significantly outperformed Spider-Man: No Way Home, which had an initial global earning of $600 million, as well as Avengers: Infinity War, which debuted at $640 million worldwide. This installment, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, unfolds four years after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. The plot follows Peter Parker as he attempts to rebuild his life after the world forgets his identity. Along the way, he faces a new, mysterious threat with the help of unexpected allies.
The film’s cast includes Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, and Mark Ruffalo, all contributing to what has become a monumental opening for the Spider-Man franchise and the Marvel cinematic universe as a whole.
